The Idaho AGC is hosting a Lunch & Learn for Construction Suicide Prevention Week.
The rate of death by suicide for construction workers is over 5 times the rate of all other construction fatalities on the jobsite. The rate of suicide in construction is more than 4 times higher than the general population. (Source: BLS) With more than 8 million (and rising) workers in the industry, it is critical that we place as much focus on mental health in our workforce as much as we do the physical.
About Talk Saves Lives: Construction
Based on American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's (AFSP) flagship suicide prevention education program, Talk Saves Lives: Construction is a new program that has been adapted for the construction industry. Presented by a construction industry professional or trained AFSP volunteer, this program will provide an overview of suicide in the construction industry, risk factors and warning signs of suicide, and strategies to prevent it. Followed by a Q&A and information on how construction companies across the U.S can bring this presentation to jobsites and offices.
