    Course Description: This training is designed to familiarize contractor personnel with USACE construction quality management concepts and procedures, ensuring that projects meet the specified quality standards.

    Course Objectives:

    • Understanding CQM Concepts: Gain insights into the principles of Construction Quality Management as practiced by USACE.
    • Roles and Responsibilities: Clarify the distinct roles of the contractor's Quality Control (QC) and the Government's Quality Assurance (QA) personnel in achieving quality work.
    • Three-Phase Control System: Learn to implement the Three-Phase Control System (Preparatory, Initial, and Follow-up Phases) to ensure compliance with contract requirements.

    Course Content:

    1. Introduction to CQM: Overview of quality management in construction, emphasizing proactive prevention over reactive inspection.
    2. Contractor's Review: Responsibilities for reviewing contract plans, importance of proper layout drawings, and the need for clarifications.
    3. Quality Management Planning: Development and implementation of an effective QC plan tailored to project specifications.
    4. Preconstruction Conference and Coordination Meeting: Establishing a mutual understanding of QC requirements before project initiation.
    5. Submittals: Procedures for managing and processing submittals to ensure compliance with contract specifications.
    6. Quality Management During Construction: Application of the Three-Phase Control System and other QC procedures during the construction phase.?
    7. Making the System Work: Strategies for effective communication and partnership between the contractor and the government to achieve quality outcomes.
    8. Resident Management System (RMS): Introduction to the RMS software used by USACE for project management and documentation.

    Course Length:  One day (8 hours)

    Who Should Attend:  Anyone who has a federal contract through the Army Corps of Engineers (regardless of what state you reside in).

    Certification Period: Course certificates are valid for five years from the date of successful completion.
